Assembles and checks new machines, sub-assemblies; and disassembles and repairs new or used machines, as required, in a manner prescribed on process sheets and to dimensions specified on drawings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assembles, fastens, or secures parts according to methods, drawings, and knowledge of units.

Performs all work required in complex assemblies or dis-assemblies.

Verifies conformance of finished assembly or sub-assemblies to specifications to assure quality.

Operates drill press, grinder, welder, paint equipment, and small power tools to assist in assembly operation.

Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished assembly or sub-assembly.

Prepares items for painting and performs painting on parts and equipment as assigned. 

Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Completes all necessary process, attendance, and quality records as required.

Education: Associates Degree (AA) from two-year college or equivalent related experience.

Experience:  5 years related experience

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

Other skills and abilities:

Ability to read and use all types of measuring instruments to verify accuracy of the assembly

or sub-assembly

Ability to read and interpret drawings

Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test

Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training
