Position Summary

The Assembler II position is a non-exempt role based in Belleville, IL. This role performs production work, provides technical assistance and training to employees, assists in coordinating production activities, and maintains a safe work environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Works with the Production Manager to maximize production efficiency and maintain production schedule. Completes all necessary process, attendance, and quality records as required
  • Performs all work required in complex assemblies or dis-assemblies. Provides technical assistance to other employees associated with setup, training, production, and product knowledge
  • Verifies conformance of finished assembly or sub-assemblies to specifications to assure quality.
  • Operates drill press, grinder, welder, blaster, paint equipment, and small power tools to assist in assembly operation.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished assembly or sub-assembly.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of 5-7 year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in this field.

Skills/Experience

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

Other skills and abilities:

  • Ability to read and use all types of measuring instruments to verify accuracy of the assembly or sub-assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test
  • Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training

Travel - Travel is not required.
