Demand Planner

Position Summary

The primary objective of Demand Planner is to make sure that materials and components are available when needed in the production process and that manufacturing takes place on schedule. The role both directly and under direction of others, supports processes required to sell and fulfill orders for new capital equipment, aftermarket parts, and services. Required duties include creation of processes, and capacity planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform liaison work with other departments (Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Sales, Shipping, Customer Service) to obtain services or pertinent information relative to functional needs.
• Primary responsibility for make/buy decision with support from methods, engineering, and supply chain.
• Review and accurately process MRP messages to plan new orders.
• Responsible for the release, control, and follow-up of assigned shop floor work centers
• Help track schedule adherence on the shop floor and provide solutions.
• Manage inventory issues and schedule changes
• Backup for master scheduler

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, sales, engineering, or a subject in supply chains or in a similarly applicable field.

Skills/Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience in a demand planning related role.
• Experience with JD Edwards (or similar MRP system), scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office programs.
• Experience in manufacturing environment, machining and welding a plus.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills with good communication skills.
• Ability to manage a work queue and tasks with a high level of independence.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and work instructions a plus.
