Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

This position is intended for a Project Engineer with education in mechanical engineering at college or university level. The service includes management of small and medium-sized projects in the process industry, management of drawing documentation and work with ACAD in both 2 and 3D. These projects will be in the areas of paper and pulp industry, mining industry and material handling of fuel for biofuel plants right from the tender stage, order fulfilment or product improvement, as well as documentation/certification processes and procedures. Additionally, this position provides technical assistance to the company's product lines to maintain and improve marketing position, growth, and financial goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Project and documentation management. Manage project documentation of varying sizes from receipt of orders to design, procurement, manufacturing testing, delivery, installation, and start-up.

  • Participating in the team with other engineers and staff, taking responsibility for assigned tasks to achieve fast technical and financial satisfactory results.
  • Interface with customers to design equipment and execute projects considering customer needs, internal/external production capacity, financial goals, and available resources. This means maximizing the use of existing designs and efficiently developing new designs through detailed calculations, design software and collaboration with others
  • Perform liaison work by contacting other departments (sales, purchasing, manufacturing, etc.) as well as external suppliers, to obtain services or relevant information related to functional needs.
  • Based on customer requirements, company strategy and direction of engineering management, determine make vs buy decisions for various parts of a project.
  • Subcontractor and workshop visits when required for training and supervision.
  • Customer visits to provide support when starting equipment, internal and external training, and direct sales support.
  • Participate in fairs, exhibitions and other possible functions as needed.

Product design:

  • Drawing preparation in both 2D and 3D models of various parts or products and produce general assembly drawings and subassembly drawings using Autodesk software products, with a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes in structures.
  • Accept and manage product development projects. Understand and effectively translate design parameters into manufacturing process and capacity constraints associated with current sources of production.
  • Assistance with technical sales and customer service support.
  • Directly support and engage in generating quotes for parts, service, and capital equipment by identifying requirements and providing cost and lead time summaries. This work includes technical evaluation of bid packages, generation of technical responses, accumulation of documentation, collection of cost information, and finalization of formal packages. In addition, this means reviewing customer needs and applications and identifying available solutions.
  • Accept requests from customers to troubleshoot technical issues with products and develop solutions with customers in an efficient and professional manner.

Education

Bachelor's degree alternative Master's degree in mechanical engineering.

5 to 10 years of broad engineering experience including product design, facility design, manufacturing methodology, tooling, laboratory, etc. is typical for this position.

Skills/Experience

Swedish citizenship alternative permanent residence permit in Sweden with a passport that allows travel within Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

Language skills:

Read/write/speak fluent Swedish and English. Good language skills are a requirement. Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business journals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and answer questions from groups of managers, customers, and suppliers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the basics of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations. Understanding of complex algebraic equations and calculus is a plus but not a requirement.

Reasoning skills:

Plan and execute a variety of tasks that require general knowledge of company policies and procedures applicable in area of responsibility and including their application to cases not previously covered. Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general outcomes, devise methods, modify or adapt standard operating procedures to meet varying conditions, make decisions based on precedent and company policy.

Other skills and abilities

  • Normal social skills and empathy and ability to cooperate in a group.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to independently travel to and from different parts of the world and, with the customer's permission, can move within different parts of mills and client's facilities.
  • To be resident in the Stockholm area with the possibility of daily commuting to and from the office.
